چکیده

Background: Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a new and useful technique for angiographic procedures. Prostatic artery embolization (PAE) has emerged as a promising treatment modality for lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). CBCT can be helpful for PAE to determine the correct arteries for embolization, and to show any occlusion of these arteries. Case presentation: Herein, we report on a patient who underwent CBCT-guided PAE as treatment for BPH-induced LUTS, present the imaging findings, and provide technical suggestions. Conclusions: PAE is an effective, minimally invasive modality for the treatment of LUTS due to BPH, and contrast CBCT can help visualize and demonstrate occlusion of the prostatic arteries.

Review of Prostate Artery Embolization for Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy

Lower urinary tract symptoms from benign prostatic hyperplasia are a very prevalent disease process which affects more than 40% of men over age 60. When LUTS from BPH become medically refractory, transurethral resection of the prostate and prostatectomy have been the gold standards for treatment. While the efficacy of these procedures has been clearly delineated, they are also associated with s...

Radiological Findings of Prostatic Arterial Anatomy for Prostatic Arterial Embolization: Preliminary Study in 55 Chinese Patients with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia

OBJECTIVE To describe the prostatic arterial supply using Cone-beam computed tomography (CT) and digital subtraction angiography (DSA) before prostatic arterial embolization (PAE) for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). METHODS In a retrospective study from January 2012 to January 2014, 55 male patients (110 hemipelves) with BPH who underwent PAE were evaluated by Cone-beam CT in addition to ...

Comparison of Nonspherical Polyvinyl Alcohol Particles and Microspheres for Prostatic Arterial Embolization in Patients with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia

PURPOSE To report early results following prostatic artery embolization (PAE) and compare outcomes between nonspherical polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) particles and microspheres to treat lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). METHODS PAE was performed in nine patients (mean age: 78.1 years) with symptomatic BPH. Embolization was performed using nonspherical PV...
